A car some fellow Oppo readers may appreciate; literally one in a million (according to today's post...)
There are a few other folks in my area with manual trans 3-Series Wagons, but none have the sport package.
My wagon is a bit modded... OEM M3 wheels, Bilstein shocks w/ H&R Springs, headers, Dinan CAI, Conforti 'Shark' chip, M3 steering wheel, etc.
Also, not very clean in the photo. Oh well.

I have to admit something:
I drooled.

I always loved those 3 series touring, 328i? I hear every now and then about that shark chip, what does it exactly does? is it worth it?

The 'Shark Chip" is basically the only chip that can be installed by the end-user. While there are other chips out there (Dinan et al.), they require a software flash at a licensed facility. The Shark Chip is basically an OBD2 port USB device; it downloads the current throttle, air/fuel, and timing maps and replaces them with a slightly more aggressive tune. The tuning is totally reversible via the same Shark Chip in about 10 minutes.
There is a noticeable gain in power and torque for 323i's (with the M52TU engine-like mine), less so for 325i's with the M54 engine.
Other benefits of the chip include the removal off the car's top speed limiter and a 7k redline (instead of 6,500).

If you like this wagon, I'll post another couple that are in the stable in the next couple of weeks!

Great in Alpine white. You've done everything I would do to an E46! (although I prefer ZHP wheels)

I had one for my M3, and honestly it moved the HP and torque peaks around but did not increase anything. Sold the car and I still have the chip now.

You mean you have several wagons???? Do you live in the US?

This is pretty great. You have more sexy wagons, you say? I demand to see proof! C'mon SR20!

I live in the Detroit area now, but the cars are back in North Carolina.

Wow an American with several sport-wagons...you are a legend among men. :)

Wanna race?

I cross shopped this so hard against my 9-3 Sport Combi in 07. In the end the Saab won because of more rear legroom and a better price. But I'd still love to have one!

If that race involves turning... ;)

Got me there... Nice Wagon man!

Does the wagon above have a 350?
![]() 11/02/2013 at 14:24 |

I have a new 4 bolt main Vortec 350 ready to be installed, but the original 305 is still very strong and sports an 96 LT1 camshaft. She is faster than a modded IS300 wagon and my 2.73 rear end ratio makes for great MPG. I have a hotter ignition module with more spark dwell, hotter TBI chip, no cats, 14" K&N open air cleaner, and a cherry bomb glasspack. She is my daily driver to keep miles off the CTS-V
